Halton Skills Competition Opportunity

The Halton Skills Competition is an annual event where students showcase their talent in skilled trades and technology, featuring challenges in areas like robotics, animation, baking, auto repair, etc. Winners often advance to the Skills Ontario Competition. This year the event will be held at Nelson High School on March 31, 2026. This year we are adding challenges in the following areas and are looking for participants! Fashion The competition challenges students to demonstrate creativity, technical skill, and precision by designing and constructing a garment based on a given theme and specifications. Competitors are evaluated on workmanship, fit, adherence to design criteria, and professional finishing techniques. GIS (Team of 2) The competition challenges students to analyze real-world spatial data and create accurate, well-designed maps using industry-standard GIS software. Competitors are evaluated on data management, spatial analysis, cartographic quality, and their ability to interpret and present geographic information effectively. Prepared Speech The Prepared Speech challenges students to deliver a well-organized speech on a given topic within a set time limit. Competitors are evaluated on content, clarity, delivery, organization, and effective communication skills.
